Boat Description

Brand new to the market — arriving in Fort Lauderdale October 10. Sami Malu is an elegant and capable 2017 Lagoon 52, presented in a four-cabin layout that maximizes accommodation without sacrificing performance or seaworthiness.

The Lagoon 52 represents a new direction in big cruising catamarans from this respected French builder. Developed in collaboration with VPLP, Nauta Design and Lagoon’s own design team, the model uses advanced performance criteria to deliver a faster, stronger and more refined platform. The 52’s diamond-shaped vertical bows, bevelled hulls, levitated deckhouse and tall rig are immediately distinctive, but the design choices extend well beyond the aesthetic: the hull form, structural engineering and sail plan were all optimized for improved seakeeping, higher average speeds and comfortable long-distance passagemaking.

Sami Malu benefits from the 52’s practical and user-focused layout. Boarding is easy via open aft transoms and broad sidedecks; the cockpit is level with the saloon for seamless indoor/outdoor flow and includes an outdoor lounge and dedicated sun-lounging area to starboard. The flybridge is accessible either from the cockpit or from the starboard deck, and the steering station is configurable in three positions (starboard, centre or port) to give the skipper excellent visibility while sailing or manoeuvring.

This particular yacht has been significantly upgraded for independent cruising. In 2023 a custom-fabricated stainless structure was fitted to support an exceptionally large 4,530 W solar array, providing substantial electrical autonomy. Combined with a robust Cummins Onan 17 kW generator, Sami Malu is equipped to operate off-grid for extended periods while retaining reliable backup for higher AC loads.

Technically refined, comfortable and striking in appearance, Sami Malu offers the hallmarks of the Lagoon 52 — elegance, safety, user-friendliness and sailing performance — with the added advantage of expanded energy independence. Contact us to arrange an inspection in Fort Lauderdale.
