She was originally launched in Cape Town, South Africa in late 2023 and is hull #9 of this coveted high-performance brand. Earlier this year, ELIXIR made her maiden voyage across the southern Atlantic from Cape Town to Grenada. She is now strategically positioned just south of the hurricane belt and ready to jump off for a full season of Caribbean cruising.

The original design premise for the Balance 442 was to create a catamaran that had wonderful sailing characteristics with luxurious and comfortable accommodations but was also set up to be easily operated by a retired couple. Therefore, these performance cruising vessels are equipped with powerful sail plans and daggerboards which allow them to sail circles around the competition while still being easily managed for shorthanded operation. As the name suggests, it is the perfect balance of sporty sailing characteristics and liveaboard comfort.

Balance Catamarans are well known for their stunning designs, exceptional build quality, and gorgeous fit and finish. They feature industry leading technology such as their signature VersaHelm steering system, Integrel charging technology, carbon fiber reinforced daggerboards, Ullman ASDL tri-radial laminate sails, state-of-the-art electronics suites, etc. The build process for these fantastic vessels incorporates Balances Carbon Cross design and construction techniques which utilizes E-glass fiberglass with significant Carbon Fiber reinforcement in the high load areas of the hulls and decks. Every Balance 442 is hand laminated and vacuum bagged with vinylester outer skin resin over closed cell foam cores. The end result is a lightweight, stiff, and robust vessel built for world voyaging.

ELIXIR has a 3-cabin Owners Version layout that is tastefully appointed with several custom touches, a stunning green exterior hull color, and an extensive list of factory options. She sports all the most modern equipment available for a liveaboard voyager.

ELIXIR is the ideal balance of both comfort at anchor and performance underway. With her 3-Cabin Owner Version configuration, the Balance 442 easily accommodates six people in 3 Queen-sized berths. It has a large U-shaped galley with ample counter space and storage. The interior finishing incorporate custom upholstery, Avonite counter tops, and real American White Oak hand-crafted cabinetry with a whitewashed finish.

ELIXIR is a pleasure to move about on whether sailing alone or entertaining friends and family. Her ample payload capacity means there is a place to store everything on the 442. Seating and lounge areas are strategically located throughout the cockpit and accommodation areas to ensure a fantastic hosting platform. With the innovative Balance VersaHelm, the helm station swings up and down with ease which revolutionized all weather sailing. You can pilot her up top in the sunshine and breeze or swing the helm down for full foul weather protection in the comfort of the cockpit, both positions offer 360 degree visibility and comfortable seating.

ELIXIR is being sold in The Multihull Company Premier Program which ensures the vessels exceptional condition and after-sales support for the new owner. Unfortunately the current owners have experienced a change of circumstances that will not allow them to realize their cruising dreams. But with less than a year of sea time and a few thousand miles under her hulls, ELXIR is very lightly used with all the new boat kinks worked out.
