Boat Description

Peter Spronk became a legend with catamaran aficionados by designing and building some of the fastest and most beautiful catamarans ever made. Blue Moon is one of them. Custom made in 1979, Blue Moon was completely refitted in 2013 with every nut and bolt, every surface, and every piece of equipment being redone as new. Further upgrades in 2018 include 19 feet of new acrylic windows in the salon, a new autopilot, and a beefed-up steering pump for exceptional speeds and sea conditions. The boat was sailed in 2018 from the BVI’s to the Abacos in heavy weather (930 NM), with all sails reefed, in 96 hours. That’s 9.69 knots average on the open ocean.
The owner reports sailing single-handed in the double digits and finds the ketch rig easy to handle. It's comfortable with two queen-sized berths and ensuite electric heads aft, and a crew cabin forward with ensuite electric head. There are three air-conditioning systems for at-the-dock comfort, and solar panels, a wind generator, and a water maker for out in the wild blue yonder.
